And to you too. It seems the French have changed Douglas’ name to Martin! We’ve had to do this great big long explanation to the little sausage about how Daddy likes to call him Martin, but I like to call him Douglas… I know she probably doesn’t care.

Yeah, it’s always strange when publishers do that. I while back I illustrated a couple of stories with characters called Fidget (a raccoon) and Quilly (a porcupine). They ended up in the states being called Bandit and Spike. All very odd. But I guess, as you say, the ‘little sausages’ out there don’t care quite so much!

Ok I get that Martin rhymes with calin and the Frog’s tried to stick with that Hugless Douglas theme, but they speak the same language than us in the states! A US imprint once got me into a wee bit of trouble. I read the US imprint of Skellig and then bought the UK edition as a class reader. Boy was I surprised when I got to the chapter that was two pages of the boys saying Bo****ks to each other!

Ha! That’s funny! In fact, I share the same publisher (Hodder), with Skellig and that translation issue rings a bell – in publishing you always get to hear about ‘awkward moments.’ If it helps I don’t think you were the only one who had that experience! What a load of butterflies! (Um, lost in translation?) :)
