I, Refuse

New Scientist magazine is awesome. Not “only” is it full of the most amazing new developments in science – making it a wonderful source of story ideas, btw – but for the passion and enthusiasm of its writers it can’t be beaten.

In the 27th Nov issue I was particularly struck by the Editorial considering possible implications – and difficulties – of the news that some robots are currently being designed to learn to read

‘After a robotic chef has cooked a meal,’ (the editor wonders) ‘will it be confused by a sign declaring: “Refuse to be put in bins“?’

Quite right, say I. On this issue I’ll be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our robot cousins. Yes: I, too, refuse to be put in bins!

Just Say No!
