Spot the WBD DVD stars… And that stands for World Book Day Digital Versatile Disc… In spite of snow, ice, no working rail network and assorted closed airports, a bunch of authors from all over the UK staggered in to London at the end of November/early December to record their part of a World Book Day DVD.

This will be sent out to all of the UK’s schools as a taster for the brilliant new range of stories set to hit the bookshops in the first week of March.

I’m proud to say I was among these intrepid authors, although initially the snow stopped me getting to the filming for my bit. We were all to read out the first few pages of the books we have written especially for World Book Day – you know, those little £1 jobs where both sides are a proper cover because you get two mini adventure novels in one. My story – a spin off adventure from my brand new S.W.I.T.C.H. series (click HERE to find out all about it) is teamed with Gargoylz by Sara Vogler and Jan Burchett.

Anyway, because I couldn’t battle through the drifts on the first day an actress was whisked in to read for me – but then I managed to catch up with the film crew the next week at the fabulously named Ravenstone School in Balham, South London… so what you’ll probably get is the actress and me doing various bits of reading and me answering questions.

In the picture are Year 5 pupils from the school being very decorative around me after we’ve survived the opening pages of S.W.I.T.C.H. – Bug Battle together. If some of them look a little pale it’s because we were preventing them from getting lunch while we did our luvvie thing. Several of them passed out a few seconds later…
