WELL paint me tartan and stick a greasy sausage up my left nostril! The Loon on the Moon has only gone and been stuck on a big old list for a rather nifty award.
Well, when I say The Loon on the Moon, actually it’s the fabulous illustrations that are in the running, so I can take no credit.
My outrageously talented illustrating matey Emily Golden has landed a place on the longlist for the 2011 Kate Greenaway Medal (www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/greenaway/) . It recognises superbrilliant fabulousiosity in the illustration of children’s books and has previously been won by the likes of Anthony Browne, Quentin Blake and Lauren Child, so Emily will be in distinguished company if she lifts the title (which, obviously, she blimmin’ well should!).
Needless to say the news gets a MASSIVE “hoooooo-rah!” from me – I am so proud. Good luck, Em! I won a pair of tights in a raffle at a coffee morning recently, so I know only too well how it feels to be a winner. Ooooh yes.
Watch this space to find out how she gets on.
Well, obviously don’t watch this space, or all you’ll see is this message, which you’ve already read. Watch another space – one with a message about how Emily gets on. Got it? Good.
