No fear of the dark!

Which hand is it in?

It’s taken four years of training, but I was finally awarded a black belt in Tae Kwon Do this week. As the stated meaning of a black belt is ‘maturity and an absence of fear of the dark’, I should probably feel a lot better about being stuck here in this cave now. I should probably be yelling at my captors to bring it on, so I can fight my way out in a flurry of whirling kicks and knife hand strikes. I’m not sure that the creator of this modern martial art quite had my situation in mind when he devised the interpretations of the belts, though. I only have to take one look at Baggledrag Snotbucket with his oozing pustules, (that he’s constantly licking at with that prehensile tongue of his) his rows of jagged teeth and his chewed fingernails, and I’m reduced to crouching in a corner and crying quietly for my mummy!

I guess I’m just going to have to keep working at it and hope that my second Dan will bring me more confidence. If I work hard, I should get it in two years. If anyone want’s to come and join me at my secret training Dojang in Daventry, you can find out more about it here.

I would LOVE to join you, but so far the Monsters are only allowing me to learn Tai Chi. It’s taking a long time but I am gradually learning the 24 forms and it’s reassuring to know that these forms are the basis of martial arts self defence. I know I can deflect an attack now… just so long as my attacker comes at me veeeeery veeeeery slowly…
