My book, the Clumsies make a mess, has been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize! As you can see from Nicola Slater’s drawing above, Purvis and Mickey Thompson are very, VERY pleased and excited. So are Ortrud and Allen and Howard, and so am I. Howard’s bought a big box of biscuits, to celebrate. HURRAY!
The other books on the shortlist are:
The Funniest Book for Children Aged Six and Under
Angelica Sprocket’s Pockets by Quentin Blake
Dogs Don’t Do Ballet by Anna Kemp
Dog Loves Books by Louise Yates
The Nanny Goat’s Kid by Jeanne Willis, illustrated by Tony Ross
One Smart Fish by Chris Wormell
The Scariest Monster in the World by Lee Weatherly, illustrated by Algy Craig

Congratulations Sorrel! That’s great news! I hope that you’re enjoying those biscuits! With what type of biscuit exactly does one choose to celebrate such stellar events?

Thank you! Rich Tea for Howard. Shortbread for Ortrud. Purvis has a weakness for Hobnobs, and Mickey Thompson favours a fancy continental biscuit. Allen likes dog biscuits!
