The Fantastic Percy Jackson!

If you’ve not yet read a Percy Jackson book yet, then get yourselves to the library, or your nearest bookshop without delay and get one immediately!  I think it’s one of the best series out there at the moment and was very excited to discover that the first book of the series Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, has been turned into a film for the big screen.  This book/film features many of my (erstwhile) favourite monsters. (Even better is that most of them were killed or maimed during the making of this film. Perhaps it should be author Rick Riordan in here, not me!) Take a look at this trailer. It looks amazing! I’m going to be first in line to see this one:

I’m currently reading the second in the series – Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters - and will post a review shortly.

I will email him and ask if he’ll drop by. I imagine he’s pretty busy right now, though, so don’t hold your breath, Scott. Besides, Rick must be close to being monster enemy No. 1 at the moment and I’d hate to give them a lead on him.

Looks like this one might go the distance. Quite a few false starts with series since Harry P – like Eragon and Alex Rider and Spiderwick. Although I liked the movies they’ve not been big enough successes to make it into a series of movies. Can see that this one might, though. My son loves them. Can’t wait for the film. But wasn’t he Perseus’s son in the book? Here he seems to be Poseidon’s.

No, Ali, Percy is short for Perseus. He is definitely the son of Poseidon in the book. Just finished the second in the series last night. Rick is an annoyingly good writer! He’s taken a fantastic concept and executed it brilliantly … darn the man for being so talented!

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I got the following response to my email:

Thank you for writing. Unfortunately Mr. Riordan is under a writing deadline and is unable to help with requests at this time.

It was signed by the webmaster for Rick’s website.

I think the real reason is the monsters have him on the run!!
