The Disguise that didn’t work quite so well …

Having successfully escaped for 3 weeks after disguising myself as a monster, I wondered if I could do it again. This time I tried to blag my way out disguised as a monstrous character. I think my evil laugh was what got me past Blusterfart … Mwahahahaha! Sadly I only got out for a few hours before they dragged me back, kicking and screaming.

I’m becoming quite a dab hand at making disguises out of old sheets, bits of paper, my Tae Kwon Do belt etc. Can anyone tell who I was supposed to be?

Jafar

Nope. Not even close! Darn! And I thought it was such a good effort at a costume that it would be instantly recognisable. There are several giveaway clues in the picture.

i think it is a good thing that the costume is not recognizable that way the “monsters” won’t recognize you

I recognised it as Jafar straight away. Only an Iago on your shoulder would have been closer to the original, otherwise it’s perfect. Top work that man.

Squibbler ThreeBuns SheTroll and I have decided we could both quite go for you in that get up, Mark. You’d better start running now…

Aladdin is, in my humble opinion, the best Disney film of recent years – and so Jafar is never ‘afar’ from my mind… geddit?! *sigh*

Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a big traditional panto fan, too – and, on this occasion, I didn’t even mind that they changed just about everything apart from the basic cave/genie/lamp combo.

I’ve played Abanazer (the basis for Jafar) a few times – best panto baddie ever!

I’m with Tommy – I absolutely loved Aladdin when it came out in the 90s and I don’t think it’s been bettered by any other 2D animation since. It helped that the tunes were all written by Alan (Little Shop of Horrors) Menken and that Robbie Williams was in it. Saw it loads of times with my toddlers and never got bored… In fact I think I’m going to have to get the DVD now and have a good Aladdinfest!

(Oh yes – and I once played the princess in a Theatre In Education tour… as we’re bagging our roles!)
