Monster Sale, by Ronald Searle

Here’s something I just found in THE TERROR OF ST. TRINIAN’S AND OTHER DRAWINGS, by the wonderful Ronald Searle.

I post it here as a two-fingered gesture of defiance at our monster jailers, who will never, repeat NEVER break our authorial spirits, no matter what they do to us!

What? Ow! No… Get Off! No! Not the Chinese Burn! Ooh, that really hurts! NO! STOP! OUCH! OW! OW! All right! All right!

Of course, what I meant to say was: I post this here as a swingeing satirical indictment of horrible authors and the way we cruelly exploit helpless monsters to sell our despicable stories. Poor monsters. Yes. Everybody be nice to the monsters.

Sigh. ;p
