I managed to sneak into the monsters’ staff room this evening as I’m tired of my personal jailer, Bumplop the Pungent, wiping my stale bread under his sweaty armpits to soften it up. There have to be some biscuits around here somewhere…
It was there that I doscovered the monsters have access to certain websites that are banned for us – including the BBC’s iPlayer. I switched on and watched a fantastic programme called ‘Just Read with Michael Rosen’.

In the documentary children’s laureate, Michael Rosen, travels to an everyday primary school in Wales to try and turn it into a school of book lovers. Quite a challenge – and he only has ten weeks in which to do it. I thoroughly recommend you click onto iPlayer and watch ‘Just Read’ before it drops off the site. It shows a real dedication to spreading the importance of books – and I for one found myself incredibly inspired.
You’ll find it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00hk9ck/Just_Read_with_Michael_Rosen/
Now, I have to get out of here before Bumplop comes to make me a cup of what he laughingly calls ‘tea’…

Thanks for the link, going to watch now!
Michael Rosen did a few school visits at my Primary when I was a kid. I recall the visits from him very fondly and can still remember the passion he brought to telling his stories and acting out his poetry. Needless to say some of the first poetry I read to my daughter was his.
Re: the monster situation, have you tried pointing over his shoulder when he opens the door and slipping past him when he turns to look?

What a fantastic programme! Do you think that bear’s cave connects to this one?
Oh, and Kat – I tried that, and thought for a moment it had worked, but my jailor seems to have eyes in places I don’t want to think about!
