Frozen In Time

Frozen In TimeI don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been getting bored.  I tried to keep busy by counting my noses, then fashioned a rough chess set from stones I found lying around the cave and challenged one of the monster guards – Minty Clinch – to a game or two.  Trouble was. Minty kept cheating.  At least, I think grabbing all my pieces and eating them is cheating.

Thankfully, the one thing the monsters have provided for us is a wide selection of books – so I turned to them and, in particular, Frozen In Time by Ali Sparkes.

Now, I know Ali is being held captive with us, but she’s been holding back information.  She hasn’t told us what an utterly brilliant read her latest book is!  Frozen In Time is an incredible page-turner that I literally couldn’t put down until I’d reached the end.

The book tells the story of Ben and Rachel – a brother and sister whose life is unusual enough to begin with (their parents are a cruise ship magic act, and so they live under the care of their slightly eccentric scientist uncle, although they tend to end up taking care of him!)  However, when Ben and Rachel discover a metal dome buried in the undergrowth of the garden, they enter a bizarre world of cryogenic freezing, cold-war spies and how to lay the perfect table at lunchtime!

Freddie and Polly have been frozen underground for many a year and, on being woken, must not only deal with the baffling modern world around them (eBay and iPods, anyone?) but also have to search for clues to try and locate their missing father.  Things take a turn for the worse when their search comes to the attention of governments around the world…

Frozen In Time is a must read book.  But don’t take my word for it – check out the stunning animated trailer here: http://alisparkes.com/fit1.asp

It’s absolutely super!

I’m all overcome in my corner of the cave. Tried to fumble across and give you a hug, Tommy, but miscalculated in the dark and threw my arms around a 5ft8ins pillar of squidgy stuff with 15 eyes and one nostril, that calls itself Phil and now thinks I fancy it. Oh dear. Thankyou, though. The cockles of my heart are warm and toasty. Monsters might even give me a pillow now… you never know…

No, you were right the first time – that’s Tommy.
